October is domestic violence awareness month and we want you to be involved!
We are inviting you to join many other brave men in Henderson County to
"Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®".
This will be the second year for this fun event. Last year we had just over one hundred men walk in this
event including Commissioner Bill Moyer; McCray Benson, Henderson County Community Foundation;
Mark Warwick, WTZQ; the Blue Ridge Community College baseball team, and many others who accepted
the challenge. Will you?
The challenge is to get as much sponsorship as you can to walk a "mile" in a pair of women´s high-heel shoes
down Main Street in Hendersonville. The event will be Friday, October 9, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. We will start at The
Purple Ribbon Thrift Store located at the corner of 5th and Church Street and end at the steps of the Historic
Courthouse. Music will be provided by Tom Brown. Registration and shoe pick up inside The Purple Ribbon
between 5:15 and 6:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the three generating the most sponsorship.
We believe this is a great way to bring much needed awareness
of domestic violence, which happens every day in our own
backyard, and at the same time bring much needed funds to
our domestic violence emergency shelter.
Please accept this fun and rewarding challenge. There will be
plenty of supporters lining the sidewalks to cheer you along as
you walk in those fabulous stilettos!
Please contact Cindy Streetman at Mainstay 693.3840 or
cindy@mainstayhelp.org to join and give your shoe size.

You're Invited —Mainstay is celebrating its 25th year
of providing services to our neighbors
Sweet Celebration on Friday, September 25, 2009
from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the historic courthouse on Main Street.
Our "sweet" event will feature desserts from local restaurants along with beverages, and music provided by Tom Brown
Although domestic violence isn´t something one would normally celebrate, our "sweet celebration" will focus on the many
successes of our clients that exited Mainstay´s doors to go on to a better way of life. For the 2008/09 fiscal year, Mainstay served
156 women and 109 children in shelter, 276 clients in our outreach program, and served 195 in our anger management classes.
As always, thank you for supporting Mainstay and helping to create happy familes! We hope to see you there. |
